Change Log
Plain-language change log, curated from the development history. Newest entries first. Pure housekeeping commits (backups, file moves, asset imports with no player-facing effect) are left out. Add new entries at the top of the relevant date, or add a new date section, in the same format: - Entry text.

- Footsteps now change with the surface: concrete, gravel, dirt, wood, metal and water each sound different, with separate walk, run, strafe and landing sounds. Other players can hear them about 30 metres away.
- World ambience: birdsong and wind by day, crickets at night, quieter indoors, driven by the weather and time of day.
- A soundtrack: calm explore music that switches to combat music in a fight and eases back afterwards, plus its own main menu track.
- Crow flocks circle, land, peck about and scatter when you get close. They can be shot, and drop raw meat and one to three feathers.
- New Feather resource. Arrows now cost 3 wood, 1 scrap metal and 2 feathers for 5 arrows.
- Raw meat has a proper model and icon instead of a placeholder cube.
2026-10-22
- Tattoos: 36 fitted tattoo pieces covering the body (chest, back, sleeves, knuckles, legs and small face marks), left and right earned separately. Earned through play and kept on your account through deaths and wipes.
- Tattoos start as black-and-grey linework and gain colour as you keep earning them; black-and-grey smoke filler grows into the gaps around earned pieces.
- Tattoo ink now sits in the skin (skin tone shows through, black heals blue-black) and stops cleanly at the briefs line.
- Fixed seat heights on the van, hatchback and sedan.
- Inventory drag and drop: drag armour or clothing off your body to take it off, or onto a slot to put it on; drag weapons on or off the hotbar, which stays visible while the rest of the inventory is open. Drop spots glow green if they'll take what you're holding, red if they won't.
2026-10-21
- The scrap M4 rifle: a second gun platform built from six scrap parts, craftable at the workbench or found as loot right alongside scrap AK parts.
- Vehicle headlights and light bars now cast real light, toggled with L; tail lights only come on together with the headlights, and repaired wrecks get working lights of their own.
- The driver's hands hold the steering wheel in both first and third person, and the wheel turns with your steering input, on all 13 cars.
- Options menu restyled to match the rest of our menus.
2026-10-20
- Big performance pass: parked cars no longer check for overlaps every frame, and cars with nobody within 150 m stop running physics. Game logic per frame went from 22.1 ms to 9.1 ms.
- Textures around you load sharp within about 12 seconds, and the loading screen waits for them.
- Two detailed cars got simpler distance versions.
- Packaged game fixes: missing UI and building files are always included, building places pieces again, and the town by the motel shows up.
- Bows fire properly, arrows stack, and the ammo counter shows your total arrows.
- The spring bow's frame no longer tears apart when drawn, and the bow sits in your hand.
- Respawn brings you back alive at your bed or a spawn point; Quit goes to the Beyond main menu.
- The main menu character holds your weapon in the right pose for its type.
- New pause menu in our style; pickup messages with the item picture in the corner; failure messages (not enough materials, need 150 stone) and big storm warnings as banners.
- 21 resources have real models and icons; placeables show as a small cardboard box on the ground.
- Dropped items land at your feet at item size, and dropping no longer deletes the item.
2026-10-19
- The big city sits under a green toxic gas storm. You can see the storm wall from outside, and the air turns to green haze with streaming dust and wind inside. A banner warns you as you approach and tells you whether your mask is protecting you.
- Gas masks show their two-lens visor over your view. As a mask wears, the glass cracks in three stages, bending the view through each shard. A crack sound plays as it gets worse, and you hear yourself breathing, faster when oxygen is low.
- Building uses a Building Plan: hold it on your hotbar to build. The build menu has five tabs (Foundations, Walls, Floors, Roofs, Extras) on keys 1 to 5, with the mouse wheel cycling inside a tab.
- 12 new building pieces in all four tiers: triangle foundation and floor, half wall, ramp, railings, window shutters, roof overhang, gables and roof end caps.
- Doors open with E even while holding the hammer; hit a door with the hammer to repair or upgrade it.
- Items that wear out show a condition bar along the bottom of their tile (green, amber, red, pulsing when low). A gun shows the average of its parts.
- New interaction prompt: name on top in our green font, E in a worn cut-corner square, action underneath, and a green glow that runs around the square while you hold E.
- Big loot crates open twice as fast (5 s normal, 9 s monument).
- Menu tabs use our stencil font.
- Double-clicking a stack moves as much as you can carry instead of refusing.
- Arrows can be crafted by hand from the player crafting menu.
- Gun and armour Modify windows match the other menus; the armour preview no longer faces backwards.
- Scrap Bow: less damage, wider spread. Forged Bow: more damage, tighter spread.
- Host Game button on the main menu.
2026-10-18
- The game opens on a new Beyond main menu: Continue, New Game, Join Server, Options, Credits and Quit. Your character stands in the menu room in the outfit and with the weapon you last had.
- Single-player worlds are saved. Continue loads your world; New Game starts fresh (and asks before deleting your old save). Autosaves every 5 minutes and when you quit to the menu.
- Loading screens show one of eight shots of the map, a survival tip and a progress bar, and stay up until the area around you has loaded. Respawning has a shorter version.
- Day and night: about 30 minutes of daylight (8 am to 7 pm), then a 5-minute night.
- Random weather (clear, cloudy, fog, rain, thunderstorm) at the start of each session, changing every 6 to 12 minutes with smooth blends.
- 25 new melee weapons (12 blunt, 13 blades) in Scrap, Forged and Military tiers: craftable, found in crates and on bandits, and recyclable. Two-handed weapons use an axe swing, one-handed ones a knife swing.
- The old scrap hatchet is now the Scrap Hand Axe; the Scrap Hatchet has a new look.
- Sticks and small rocks lie beside forest trees (pick up for wood and stone), and nettles give cloth fibre. Both regrow after about 10 minutes.
- Main roads have a worn dashed centre line, the dark seam down the middle is gone, road edges have less grass and occasional rubbish, and a denser roadside bush.
2026-10-17
- Vests have attachment slots (1 to 5 depending on the vest) for pouches, grenade pods, shoulder pads, bracers and thigh armour, in Scrap, Forged and Military tiers. Each gives a buff and a trade-off and shows on your body.
- Every building piece has four tiers: wood, stone, metal and armoured. The hammer repairs and upgrades, and no longer damages your own pieces.
- Press E on a door to open or close it; it swings away from you.
- Crafting stations are open to anyone who reaches them; the placer is recorded and saved.
- Bench recipes are crafted at the bench only, with a message when your bag is full.
- Animals: deer, stags, wolves, bears and boars. Herds and packs spawn around players; deer flee, predators chase and bite. Animals flinch when hit, play death animations, and can be harvested for meat and leather.
- Fixed animals sliding around without animating.
- New weapon: the scrap bow (carry and hold; firing not yet tested).
- Every tree on the map replaced with new pines, spruces and broadleaf trees, each leaning slightly. Forests are much denser (about 50,000 trees) and thin out towards roads. All still choppable.
- About 2.5x more grass, with faster, lighter wind instead of a slow underwater sway.
- New ground plants: wild grass in a washed-out blue-green, bigger ferns, wildflowers, clover, nettles and wild carrot.
- The darkest mossy ground is now brown leaf litter.
2026-10-16
- New armour: the scrap chestplate, made from road signs and a number plate bolted together (vest slot, 30 armour). Crafted at the workbench from scrap metal and leather; found in armour spawns, big crates and on bandits.
- Skin under fitted clothing is hidden, so it no longer shows through at the joints.
- Every bench has its own crafting queue (up to 5 items). It keeps crafting while you're away; finished items wait in its 5 output slots until someone takes them.
- The bench menu shows the queue, a progress bar and the output slots.
- Furnaces have 5 fuel and material slots, 5 output slots and a Light button, and smelt whatever their slots allow. The barrel furnace burns wood and leaves charcoal; the smelter burns propane.
- Lit furnaces show fire, smoke and a flickering glow.
- Bench queues, bench output and furnace contents survive saving and loading, and benches you placed come back too.
- Placed stations are now the same size as the placement preview.
2026-10-15
- Fixed a random crash while moving around the map: parked cars now fully let go of their physics once settled, and pick them back up when needed.
2026-10-14
- New look across the interface: cut corners top-right and bottom-left, grunge textures and green highlights on every panel, slot and bar.
- The menu window is see-through with a green glow and a green close tab; the Quest Journal and Skills tabs are gone (Inventory, World Map, Crafting).
- Equipped items show a green tick in their slot's corner; empty equipment slots show outline icons.
- The level/XP bar is removed; stats are now just DMG and AMR; the menu HP bar matches the health bar.
- Green scroll bars in the menus and crafting list.
- The loot window, item tooltip and death screen use the new panel; the death screen is now a centred window.
- Crafting is a tab in the player menu. Benches open it directly, list only their own recipes, and close when you walk away. Benches are bigger.
- Drag items onto the hotbar, swap slots, or drag them off. Only weapons, tools and placeables fill the hotbar automatically.
- The mouse wheel scrolls the inventory.
- Thin horizontal health, food, water and stamina bars.
- Cans and bottles in loot; drink from rivers and lakes with E.
- The scrap hatchet chops trees. Melee swings no longer push you forward.
- Spawn crates no longer give wood.
- Parchment-style world map and a square minimap.
- Benches and other stations go on the hotbar and are placed with a ghost preview.
- The building ghost keeps a sensible distance in front of you.
- Small boxes no longer give wood; loot gives a little more scrap; the scrap hatchet needs only scrap.
- First-person arms no longer vanish after closing the inventory.
- Parked cars no longer freeze in mid-air when they load in before the ground.
2026-10-13
- Rocks can be mined with a pickaxe: plain stone plus iron, copper, sulfur, saltpeter and gold ore. Rocks wear down with each hit, break on the last one, and come back after 30 minutes.
- 436 mineable rocks in 107 clusters across the main map; gold only on high ground.
- Mining has dust, flying chips and sounds on each hit, and a dust burst when the rock breaks.
- The scrap pickaxe has its own model in hand.
- New furnace recipes: charcoal from wood, metal plates from iron ore, brass from copper ore and scrap. New workbench recipe: gunpowder from saltpeter, sulfur and charcoal.
- All ammo now uses gunpowder; standard ammo uses brass casings.
- Burnt-out and caved-in houses had missing roof and wall pieces restored.
2026-10-12
- Five abandoned towns built on a test copy of the main map, replacing the old barns and house clusters: a south-east farm town, two main-street towns and two spread-out towns.
- Abandoned houses from a modular kit: ivy, floor debris, weeds and rubbish, plus burnt-out and caved-in versions.
- Towns are dressed with fences, yard clutter, dead street lights and signs, wrecked cars, barricades and loot crates.
- Wooden power poles with swaying cables run through the towns.
- Wrecked and unfinished cars switch physics off once they settle, and back on when the car is complete again. Fixes a crash with many wrecks in one area.
2026-10-11
- Roof racks can now carry cargo: strap up to 2 jerry cans (+20 L fuel each) and a bedroll.
- A lockable weapons case can be mounted on the roof rack, adding 12 slots of car storage.
- Fuel tanks increased to 60 L; jerry cans top up the tank and the HUD now shows litres.
- A snow plow blade can be bolted onto the front bumper of any car with a bull bar fitted.
- A light bar can be mounted on the roof, in front of the roof rack, and lights up with the headlights.
- Bedrolls strap onto a car's roof rack — sleep there to respawn next to that car (5 minute cooldown, doesn't work on wrecked cars).
- Off-road wheels and a roof-mounted light bar added as fittable car parts.
- New craftable tools: a claw hammer and a pipe wrench, usable as melee weapons and (the wrench) for unbolting armour plates.
- Oak trees now have trunk-sized collision instead of blocking the whole canopy, so you can walk and shoot through the leaves properly.
2026-10-10
- Added a mounted .50 cal machine gun for the tray/tub of utes and pickups, with its own aiming stance and handmade .50 cal ammunition.
- Roof racks added to every car.
- Bull bars can now be fitted to any car that doesn't already have one built in.
- Wheels are now a real item: wrecked cars can be missing wheels, off-road wheels (better grip, resist going flat) can be fitted from the hotbar, and flat tyres now show visually instead of just slowing you down invisibly.
- Tailgates split into a separate gate and window, so the window can be armoured, caged or smashed independently of the gate panel.
- Vehicle armour reworked: full flat scrap plates with rivets and seam welds, chain-link mesh over door windows, see-through louvred windscreen plates, flared wheel-arch guards, and plated box sides on vans and the ambulance.
- Crash damage now scales smoothly with how much speed you lose in the impact; fitted armour reduces it, and there's a short grace period right after spawning or teleporting so you don't get punished for a crash you didn't cause.
- The driving HUD now shows an armour bar alongside fuel and condition.
- Armour plates, the wrench, and car doors can be carried and placed straight from the hotbar, with a ghost preview showing exactly where they'll land.
- Added navigation around parked cars on the main map so NPCs and traffic route around them instead of getting stuck.
2026-10-09
- Guns are now built from parts: a receiver plus barrel, handguard, magazine, grip and an optional stock, each available in Scrap, Forged and Military tiers that all fit together. The AK is the first platform built this way.
- Right-click a receiver to open a 3D "Modify" window and swap parts onto it; once every required part is fitted it becomes a working gun.
- Vehicle armour plating extended to all 13 cars in the game, with a damage-reduction test command for tuning.
- First-person fixes: no more double hands or double legs, and your own helmet or mask no longer blocks your view.
- First version of choppable trees: swing an axe at oaks, pines and spruce to drop logs; trees regrow over time. Roughly 3,700 trees planted across the map in forest patches.
2026-10-08
- New interface look: health, oxygen, food and water are shown as four painted smears instead of icons; inventory and equipment slots use a cut-corner, green-glow design; and dying now shows a redesigned death screen.
- Underwater survival added: oxygen drains once your head goes under (about 30 seconds on a full bar) and you take damage at zero; the screen darkens and blurs as your air runs low.
- Cooking matters now: raw meat and dirty water make you sick, a campfire cooks the basics, and the Cooking Station makes proper meals with buffs (a hearty stew that heals over time, a broth that halves your oxygen drain).
- Cars now need fuel to run and take real damage, with smoke, a repair system, a drive HUD, and occupants ejected (rather than killed outright) when a car is wrecked.
- Crafting stations now cost power or fuel to run: a generator burns refined fuel to power the Advanced Workbench; the Chemistry Station and Advanced Furnace burn propane; the Recycler needs power and returns roughly half your materials back when breaking down items.
- All loot boxes on the map (295 of them) now have lids that swing open while you're looting, with sound. Barns got lighter collision and brighter interiors.
- Fixed a crash that could happen during long sessions when interface textures were cleared at the wrong moment.
2026-10-07
- Hotbar expanded to 8 slots (keys 1–8), with a grimy cracked-glass look per slot.
- Swimming added to the map's seas, rivers and lakes.
- Loot crates swing their lid open while being looted, and crates in parts of the map that load in after you arrive now get filled with loot properly instead of staying empty.
- Building fixes: no more lag switching between building pieces, stairs are properly walkable, and overgrown foliage areas no longer block placing foundations near them.
- Getting in and out of cars now plays a proper per-door animation, and wrecked cars rest upright correctly instead of glitching.
